Grimes just gave her and Elon Musk's daughter three new names
Grimes – real name: Claire Boucher – sent fans into a spin this weekend when she revealed she's changed her daughter's name.
The singer and business mogul Elon Musk welcomed their daughter via surrogate last year, and named her Exa Dark Sideræl. The pair also share a son, whose name is X Æ A-12.
But now, Grimes has announced that her daughter has a new name. Or three.
"She's Y now, or 'Why?' or just '?'" she tweeted in response to a fan. "But the government won't recognise that," Grimes added of the, err, unique name.
She ended her tweet by writing: "Curiosity, the eternal question... and such."

After sharing the news that her daughter had undergone a name change, there was a mixed response from Grimes' fans. "Y is a cute name, the single letter is cool," one person tweeted, as another wrote: "Love how you just named her an existential thinker."
Elsewhere, someone else said: "'Y' the hell would you do that?"
Previously speaking about why she and Elon chose the name Exa Dark Sideræl, Grimes told Vanity Fair that Exa refers to the computing term exaFLOPS, while dark means "the unknown."
"People fear it, but truly, it’s the absence of photons," she went on. "Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe." Finally Grimes explained that "Sideræl" means "the true time of the universe, star time, deep space time, not our relative earth time" – and is pronounced "sigh-deer-ee-el".
