Greg James failed to turn up to work on Wednesday after attending the Brit Awards on Tuesday night, and his wife Bella Mackie revealed that he never came home at all.

However, it transpired that James had been taken from an after-party for a pre-planned Radio 1 game.

Adele Roberts was on hand to host the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, but not before branding James a "dirty little no-show".

But Mackie revealed he never made it home either, tweeting: "Husband didn’t come home last night."

However, she seemed to be making the most of the situation, as she added in another tweet: "I wrote about how to compromise with your partner over interior design for @_houseandgarden.

“But since @gregjames seems to have disappeared, I’m going to buy the massive chandelier he hated today."

His radio show usually kicks off at 6.30am but Roberts remained on air after presenting her 4am show when he didn’t turn up, leading fans to believe James was hungover.

She told listeners: "Good morning everybody, it’s Radio 1 Breakfast with Adele Roberts. I can’t actually believe this is happening!”

Roberts continued: “You know, somebody actually tweeted my show and said, ‘Do you fancy doing an impromptu breakfast show?’ And I jokingly said yes.

“Well, here we are everyone. Who’s laughing now? Not me. Greg James is a no-show, a dirty little no-show. Has anybody seen him, on anyone’s Instagram?”

She went on to relate that she had seen him on a colleague's Instagram around midnight, before jokingly appealing for anyone who spots him to "send him [their] way".

It was later revealed that James had been “taken” as part of stunt.

In a clip played on Radio 1 on Wednesday afternoon he divulged that he’d been “taken away from the Brits last night… I was at an after party and I was taken and I’m locked away.”

He said he'd been taken to an unknown building and had been locked up in an empty white room.

Now, Radio 1 listeners have been tasked with discovering "Who's Got Greg".
