Greg Davies has TV fail in front of Harry and Meghan at Royal Variety
Any time a presenter messes up their hosting duties on telly is a bit embarrassing (just ask Olly Murs), but imagine doing it while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are sitting a few rows away!
That's the unfortunate situation that The Inbetweeners and Cuckoo star Greg Davies found himself in while hosting the Royal Variety Performance on Tuesday night (December 11).
The ITV variety show went off the rails when Davies started introducing cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who'd previously performed at the royal wedding earlier this year. There was just one problem…
"Our next guest performed for a television audience of over 27 million when he gave a spellbinding performance at the wedding of your royal highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex," he told the royal couple.
"The only people at the wedding who missed it were yourselves because you were busy signing the register. So we'd like to take you back to that magical day…"
Davies then paused, looked off stage, and admitted: "This is entirely the wrong link!"
The live crowd began chuckling – Prince Harry and Meghan included! Davies quickly recovered, laughing along with the audience, and made light of the screw-up.
"I'm going to walk on again, but I'll tell you, if it goes wrong again, I'm walking [off]," he joked, adding: "Oh, oh no. I'm sorry mum!"
That cringey apology delighted Prince Harry and Meghan even more, and viewers at home were cracking up too:

I can’t tell if that was staged or if he actually did get the wrong link... #RoyalVarietyPerformance

Davies was eventually able to get the show back on track by correctly introducing a performance from the cast of Tina - The Tina Turner Musical, before getting the heck off the stage! He even got a chance to repeat Sheku Kanneh-Mason's link later, this time getting it right.
The Royal Variety Performance aired on Tuesday night on ITV from the London Palladium.
