Just as with most events on this year’s fashion calendar, The Green Carpet Fashion Awards is going digital.

The event, which has now been running for three years, is a collaboration between Eco-Age and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI) – and celebrates all things sustainability in fashion.

"We have been the first to celebrate sustainability and fashion and to shine a light on the disruptors and game changers in our industry," Livia Firth, creative director and co-founder of Eco-Age said. "This year we wanted to do the same even in the way the event itself is produced and delivered."

The award show, which usually welcomes a star-studded crowd to attend, will launch the first ever digital green carpet. It will combine cinematic footage with a fusion of augmented reality and visual FX created using real-time game engines, and with the world’s leading talent and opinion formers appearing as holograms courtesy of ARHT Media.

It will not only see celebrities grace the online event (in a digital sense), but they will also share a look inside their wardrobes, including revealing their most treasured pieces and looks, to encourage viewers to become pioneers in sustainable fashion.

Prior to the event, there will also be web experiences available to enjoy, those that give a global perspective of the work of designers, manufacturers and individuals that promote sustainability in the industry.

"Together we must exploit this moment to shape a future for our industry that puts the planet and people at the centre of its business," Carlo Capasa, chairman of CNMI, explained. "We decided to organise a digital event because we want to continue participating, even at this difficult time, and with a tone of voice that’s appropriate but also carries a message of solidarity and hope."

This year’s Green Carpet Fashion Awards will be broadcast on 10 October on Sky and will also premiere globally on YouTube. The event will centre around the theme of togetherness and rebirth – and will give out five awards.
