The Great Pottery Throw Down returns with a first for the show
The Great Pottery Throw Down returned to our screens yesterday and there was a surprise in store for the potters and fans.
The first episode of the new series broke with tradition when it came to elimination – retaining all 12 potters for the first time in the show's history.
The contestants impressed the judges so much with their sangria jugs and salad dishes that the judges found it too hard to chose someone for elimination.
The programme, which is now on series 8, has previously always eliminated one potter at the end of the first episode. Judge Keith Brymer Jones took to Instagram to explain the decision.
Keith said: "Well folks ............ I mean honestly, how could we send anyone home. They are an incredible bunch."
Fans were delighted with the decision. @shanerood15 commented: "Before the result was announced I said 'I wish they wouldn't let anyone go on the first week'....and my wish came true. January needs #potterythrowdown." @blue_cat_sewing said: "Fantastic, no-one deserved to go home, such a good decision," while @ddjcrafts added: "We say every year that no one should go on the first week."
It was project manager James who impressed the judges the most though, including with his sheep inspired 'Happiness in the Mournes' salad set, and was awarded Potter of the Week. We can't wait to see what he makes next week!
