PSA: Aldi's Cuthbert The Caterpillar Is Back After An Intense Legal Battle With M&S

Last year a lot went down concerning a particular chocolate-sponged, caterpillar-shaped cake... Yep, M&S sued budget supermarket, Aldi for allegedly copying the retailer's signature Colin the Caterpillar, claiming that the similarity led consumers to believe they were of the same standard. And for a short time, Cuthbert was actually taken off Aldi's shelves *cry.*

But luckily for us (and Cuthbert lovers across the nation), the cheeky caterpillar cutie is back and better than before, landing in Aldi stores from today (Monday 6 June).

Making his comeback after the Queen's Platinum Jubilee — we can't possibly let him take away any of Her Majesty's thunder — Cuthbert the Caterpillar will be priced at just £4.99 and has already been causing quite the stir these past few days in preparation for his big debut...

That's right, to mark his return, Cuthbert has been seen on ad vans at M&S locations in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham and London. With messages like “Aisle be back” and “Made by bakers. Approved by lawyers.” Genius, or what?

It's not the first time Aldi's marketing team has thrown this kind of shade. Last year, during the ongoing media frenzy between the two caterpillars, Aldi's Twitter account was making headlines with its sarcastic comments, and hashtags.
