Oh, Tony. So sad to see you go. But at least we’ll always the memories of your good times at West Brom. Like, um, when you won 1-0. And, err, that time the boys really dug in for that clean sheet. Oh and all those centre-backs – so solid! Mmmm, fantastic.

But sadly the Baggies have now dispensed with Mr Pulis after those 1-0 wins dried up, and attentions turn to who will replace him.

The Welshman will quite literally be a hard act to follow – this is a man who once headbutted one of his own players while naked, after all – but the Mirror says he could be replaced by the equally hard Sam Allardyce.

The tabloid sensationally claims that Tony’s fate was sealed when “at least two” West Brom players “joined in” with fan chants calling for him to be sacked during Saturday 4-0 defeat by Chelsea.

And if they enjoyed Pulis’ percentage football, they’re really going to love Big Sam. The club’s Chinese owner Guochuan Lai, 12, reportedly wants the former England manager to “save” him from relegation.

Some slightly more imaginative candidates are suggested by the Sun, such as recently sacked duo Ronald Koeman and Slaven Bilic, plus the repeatedly sacked Alan Pardew.

Other names in the frame are Martin O’Neill and Nigel Pearson (Guardian), plus Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes and Martin O’Neill (Scottish Sun). A combination of Martin O’Neill and Michael O’Neill could make things interesting.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph says Pulis could immediately find himself back in a job with Swansea already lining him up to replace the under-pressure Paul Clement. Those days when the Swans played tiki-taka seem a long time ago.

Chelsea linked with Real Madrid ace

In non-Tony Pulis news, Real Madrid starlet Marco Asensio is “ready to join Chelsea” after dropping out of the first team at the Bernabeu, says the Express.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is “angry” about being left on the bench depsite Los Blancos’ struggles, with Blues manager Antonio Conte “ready to pounce” if his predicament remains the same.

Arsenal and Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Porto’s midfield “powerhouse” Danilo Pereira, says the Sun. The scouts were duly impressed when the 26-year-old scored after just five minutes against Portimonense at the weekend, although the Premier League duo will reportedly face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

Elsewhere, Arsenal and Tottenham have been joined by various Chinese clubs in their pursuit of Watford forward Richarlison (Mirror), Real Madrid are set to make a fresh approach for David de Gea and will offer £62m for the Man Utd goalkeeper (Cadena Ser) and Leeds United legend Tony Yeboah has called a Ghanaian radio station to deny rumours that he is dead (Ghanaweb). Alternatively, Tony Yeboah has been murdered by someone who does a very good impression of his voice.
