Seeing as the majority of our time in self isolation has been spent watching reruns of Gossip Girl (side note: no regrets), it was a pleasure to see Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford, aka Dan Humphrey and Nate Archibald, reunited IRL*.
*And when we say IRL, we mean over a Zoom call, because that's how we're all socialising right now.
Thanks to Variety's Actors On Actors, the pair were spotted
on the Met Steps having an in depth chat about everything from Penn's portrayal of Joe in You, to Chace's superhero show The Boys.
Of course, they also reminisced about their time on Gossip Girl between 2008 - 2012, and the last time they watched the show.
"I know that I watched with my now wife, with Domino [Kirke], before we got married," Penn revealed. "It must’ve been six months after we met [in 2014]. She had never seen it, and that’s the last time I can remember seeing an episode. I remember even then, it has nothing to do with the show, but it was very hard to watch."
Penn continued, "These snapshots of yourself when you’re 20, 21, 22 years old. Who can enjoy that? Sometimes it’s just uncomfortable."
Chace revealed he felt the exact same, adding, "Buddy, you have to strap me to a gurney and pop my eyes open like Clockwork Orange. But no, it would be interesting to see the first couple maybe."
One thing both actors would be happy to do, though, is a viewing party with their Gossip Girl co-stars, including the likes of Leighton Meester, Blake Lively and Ed Westwick. "To go back and open that time capsule, I think there would be some nostalgic value," Chace said. "We’re doing that when you come to L.A. We’ll have a drink."
