Gorka Marquez praises Katie McGlynn after Strictly Come Dancing elimination

Gorka Marquez heaped praise on his Strictly Come Dancing partner Katie McGlynn after they were booted from the show on Sunday.

The professional dancer and the former Coronation Street star found themselves in the bottom two for the second week in a row and the judges opted to send them home and save comedian Judi Love and her dancer Graziano Di Prima.

Taking to Instagram after the results show aired on Sunday, Gorka thanked his celebrity partner and dispelled any rumours of a rift behind the scenes.

"@katiexmcglynn thank you for the past 4 weeks. From day 1 i knew we were gonna get on and have fun!" he wrote besides snaps of them in their Movie Week costumes - Cruella de Vil and a Dalmatian dog. "You didn't have the easiest ride but always came with a smile and giving 100% to everything I asked you to do in the rehearsals room, you always trusted me and believed in my work and for that, I thank you.

"Thanks for all the laughs and funny memories we shared over the last few weeks. If there was something we did all the time it was that...laughing. Today is the end of our Dance journey but not our friendship one."

Gorka and Katie had been dogged by rumours that they don't get along, and the Hollyoaks actress directly referenced the speculation as she thanked her partner in an Instagram post.

"My time (on) @bbcstrictly has been utterly magical. I've loved every second of rehearsals with @gorka_marquez and performing each week!" she wrote. "And despite what you may have read, I couldn't have asked for a better partner and I've had such a brilliant time with Gorks... I've made friends for life working on this show."

She also told her followers that she was "gutted" to leave the series as she felt she had much more to give.
