Gordon’s is known for its iconic green bottled gin, but in a surprising move the spirit brand has created an entirely different product. Crafted with gin and tonic lovers in mind, the brand has launched an ‘ultra-low’ version of a G&T, with just 0.5% ABV.

Designed for those who love the flavour of gin and tonic, but can’t or are choosing not to drink, the new Gordon’s Ultra Low Alcohol range is an alternative to that alcoholic choice. And it's now available in ASDA for £1.49 or £4.99 for a multipack.

What is it actually made of?

It’s not completely non-alcoholic, as it does contain 0.5% ABV. The new low-alcohol option contains just a hint of Gordon’s London Dry gin extracted from the still.

So what does it taste like?

According to the brand, the new drink has the ‘unmistakable botanical blend’ of Gordon’s gin – which contains botanicals including juniper, coriander seeds, angelica root, liquorice, orris root and lemon and orange peel. The ready-to-drink bottles come in two flavours, lime and grapefruit.

"We are extremely proud to reveal this new innovation," says Annalisa Tedeschi, Head of Gordon’s. "We know that customers are crying out for more alternatives to their alcoholic drinks of choice, making [this] a great option."

Is this new product more proof that Brits are less and less interested in booze? According to the Office for National Statistics (via BBC), the number of adults who say they drink alcohol is at its lowest level since surveys began in 2005.
