Even though the series has been around for a while, since landing on Netflix The Fall is all anyone is talking about, and now fans are asking if there is any possibility of a fourth series of the hit crime series.

The Fall follows Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson, played by Gillian Anderson, as she leads a taskforce trying to trace and capture a violent serial killer known as the 'Belfast Strangler'. Meanwhile the flipside of the show follows the serial killer himself, Paul Spector, played by a young, pre-fifty-shades Jamie Dornan.

The series is by no means new, it actually aired in 2013, but since coming to Netflix it's having a big moment. So it's good news, then, that the possibility of a fourth series was never actually ruled out by series creator Allan Cubitt. In fact, quite the opposite...

In 2016, after the third and latest series aired, Cubitt spoke to Digital Spy, saying that not only was there a possibility that the team would return to the project but that it would have to be several years later down the line. How about 2021 then, eh?

Although, we do already know that if the show did return to screens, Jamie Dornan wouldn't be in it.

"I don't think I'm giving much away in saying it's Jamie's last season," he said to DS back in 2016. "But that's not to say that we wouldn't do more of The Fall."

"I do have some thoughts," Cubitt said of a fourth series. "But I'm quite keen on doing other things as well, so it's not going to be straight away."

Just a thought Allan, but a few years have past and frankly, we'd all really appreciate a fourth season. Something to think about, maybe?
