GMB's Ranvir Singh discusses guilt of being a working single parent ahead of Strictly debut
Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh has opened up about the "enormous guilt" she feels as a single working parent.
The 43-year-old Loose Women news anchor, who will make her Strictly Come Dancing debut later this month, shares an eight-year-old son called Tushaan with ex Ranjeet Singh Dehal.
Detailing the struggle of balancing work demands with parenting on her own, Ranvir told Woman And Home magazine: "It's hard work being a working single parent. I struggle with an enormous amount of guilt with my son and not being there when he goes to school. We're very attached to one another because it's just me and him.
"I do get quite tearful sometimes and I worry he's going to hate me when he grows up because I was never there."
Ranvir joined the GMB team as a features correspondent and news presenter in 2014. She is also a newscaster on ITV News, and reporter on ITV's Tonight. She previously co-presented The Martin Lewis Money Show alongside Martin Lewis.
It was recently announced that Ranvir would be joining the line-up for Strictly Come Dancing alongside fellow celebrities Clara Amfo, Caroline Quentin, Jason Bell, and Max George.
"The initial feeling of being confirmed for Strictly is one of complete terror," Ranvir said. "Feels like embarking on a rollercoaster, where you really want to do it but you are equally scared. Hopefully after the first dance I will feel exhilarated rather than sick!"
The TV presenter said that she has received advice from her GMB co-stars Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins, who both took part on the BBC One competition.
"They were all really supportive," she told HELLO!. "Kate had a good bit of advice: she said I should really commit to the training, that there's a lot of laughter, but that it's important to hit the ground running with the training and absorb what I'm being told."
Strictly Come Dancing will return for an all-new series later this year on BBC One.
