GMB's Laura Tobin confirms exact date hot summer weather will finally arrive – and it's days away

GMB Weatherwoman Laura Tobin joined Ben Shepard and Cat Deeley in the This Morning studio as they discussed the hot weather finally arriving.

Dr Zoe Williams was also part of the chat about the dangers of extreme sun as Europe continues to swelter in heatwaves.

While the UK has remained cool, Laura revealed that the sunny weather will finally arrive in the UK on Monday, 24 June.

Kicking off the chat on Wednesday's (19 June) This Morning, Ben said: “We have had an urgent warning that has been issued with a deadly heatwave sweeping through Europe. Record temperature of over 40 degrees.” Cat continued: "The unprecedented heat hitting earlier than usual has already resulted in multiple deaths and numerous missing people, intensifying concerns for holiday makers.”

It was then that Laura confirmed hotter temperatures for the UK when Ben said: “So Laura Tobin, who is of course the meteorologist from Good Morning Britain has joined us alongside Dr Zoe to find out a little bit more.”

He said: “Laura we have been moaning over here about where summer is but I know you said on Lorraine earlier this week that it’s next Monday.”

As Cat asked her if she was sure, Laura nodded as she confirmed: “Yes, yes, summer, book it in.”

The group then again discussed the extreme heat in Europe and issued warnings about it.

Laura had previously hinted that the warm weather wasn’t too far away on her Instagram. She wrote: “Will it ever warm up? Yes-set a date for your diary-From 23rd June!!!

"The @metoffice have a forecast that show if it’ll be unsettled or settled. [Blue] =Unsettled (what we have now) low pressure, wind rain & cool. [Red] =Settled (what lots of you want) high pressure, drier & warmer.

"The chart shows lots of red from 23rd June……..and consistently it’s been saying that!! So lots of blue (rain) over the next week and a bit…..BUT it looks like Summer could arrive soon. @gmb #SummerLoading."

The UK experienced the coolest first 10 days of June since 2020, in contrast to the hottest June on record this time last year, when it was as hot as 32.2C in Lincolnshire and Surrey.
