Before I continue, I should confess to being a Glossier hypebeast. I bought the sliders, I wear the pink hoody, I collect all the stickers, I paid £25 for an umbrella I'm too precious about to use, and I have debated spending £50 on the limited edition mug from the Austin, Texas pop up.
However, I am somewhat of a beauty savage and if I don't like a product - regardless of it being from my favourite brand - I have no qualms in sharing my views, because the last thing the world needs is another fake review... am I right?
So when Glossier offered to send me their new Priming Moisturiser Balance ahead of launch date to test, I was buzzing, but also skeptical.
I loved their original Priming Moisturiser, but I did not get on with the rich version, so I knew this could go one of two ways.
Hailed as "everything oily skin needs in one feel-good step," Priming Moisturiser Balance has been specially formulated for oily and combination skin types. Think of it as the lightest of their 3 moisturisers.
It's a gel-cream consistency that contains niacinamide (a skincare superhero that in this case helps minimise the appearance of pores), apple fruit extract (to lock in moisture), marine extract (to reduce the appearance of shine), bamboo extract (to improve skin texture) and willow bark extract (to smooth).

Essentially, as Kym Davis, head of product development at Glossier told me, "We know that oily skin needs moisture too and wanted to create a one-step product that controls shine, refines pores, and improves texture, all without sacrificing a healthy glow."
As someone with combination skin, I've tried oil control creams and primers before, but can never get over the horrible silicone, 'slippy' texture they all seem to have.
Thankfully, as soon as I tried Glossier's version I was relieved to find that it didn't have that heavy, 'slippy' texture AT ALL. It really is a lightweight gel-cream that sinks into the skin immediately
I was also pleased to see that it didn't leave my face looking matte, because although my shiny chin is the bane of my life, glowy is my aesthetic of choice, always. Which is why I'm always strategic with my powder application.
It definitely controlled my shine throughout the day, without drying me out and leaving me looking like a dehydrated Spongebob. But most of all I love that I've finally found a moisturiser I can use in the morning, underneath makeup.
Having combo skin I know my face would benefit from some moisturiser in the morning, but because I know my t-zone and chin like to turn into a grease pool at 2pm, I never wear one.
Priming Moisturiser Balance is essentially the missing step from my AM routine, and after experiencing the first of the UK heatwaves, it's oil controlling ability couldn't have come at a better time.
Which brings me onto my last point, whether you have oily skin or not, this for me, is the perfect summer moisturiser, giving lightweight hydration with zero greasiness. I recommend clearing a space on your dressing table immediately.
Looks like I'll continue to be a Glossier hypebeast for the forseeable...
