Surely everyone has a love-hate relationship with glitter nail polish. While it catches the light and turns you into a glorious glitter queen for the evening, actually applying the stuff can feel like it’s taking years.

And when you’ve finally painted it all on, it’s still patchy.

Fret no more - thanks to beauty vlogger Kelli Marissa, we won’t need to go through this lengthy process for glittery nails again.

Marissa has found a neat way of applying glitter nail polish so that it ends up looking perfect, even without having to apply 200 coats.

You’ll need the nail polish (the glittery stuff as well as base and top coat), liquid latex (or PVA) and a small cosmetics sponge.

First, apply a base coat.

Then paint around the edges of your nail with liquid latex (if like most of us you barely know what this is, PVA will do just as well according to Cosmopolitan).

Then dab some glitter nail polish onto the sponge.

Next, pat the glitter onto the nail using the sponge - apply it in layers as you would with other nail polishes.

When you’re happy with the coverage, apply your top coat.

And that’s it; you’re left with perfectly-even glitter nails.

For those who are curious, what the sponge does here is soak up all of the transparent polish carrying the glitter - leaving nothing but unadulterated glitter on your nail.

It looks so much better - and dries way quicker, too.
