Glenn Close looked stunning in a head-to-toe hot pink ensemble for her first appearance at the iconic Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (2 May).
Never one to shy away from a bold sartorial decision, the 75-year-old actress stepped out in a bright fuchsia Valentino outfit, featuring floor length flare trousers and a matching blouse. Valentino's designer Pier Paolo Piccoli joined her on the red carpet.
She paired her outfit with a statement floral embroidered cape — a bold take on the "Gilded Glamour” theme for the event.
The Met Gala is known for its star-studded guest list and striking outfits. It marks the opening of the annual fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
This year's gala theme is a continuation of 2021 and it celebrates the opening of part two of the Costume Institute’s exhibition, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, which opens on 5 May 2022.
Guests were asked to “embody the grandeur—and perhaps the dichotomy—of Gilded Age New York.” The American Gilded Age refers to an era during the late 1800s, which was known as a period of rapid economic growth, prosperity and innovation.
Glenn Close was not the only one to turn heads on the red carpet.
Kate Moss, who attended the event with her daughter Lila, walked the carpet in a custom-made elegant black evening gown for the occasion.
