Gisele Bündchen is not only a supermodel but also a health and wellness guru. The former Victoria‘s Secret angel, who just launched the “Giselderberry smoothie” with Los Angeles’s luxury supermarket chain, Erewhon, chatted with SI Swimsuit model and fitness influencer Katie Austin about the best and most important part of her morning routine.
“Once you wake up, have a moment to just sit in silence and meditate. And if you don’t want to meditate, just kind of take some deep breaths and get into your body, ground [yourself], if you can do a little meditation that [is] amazing,” the Brazil native encouraged. “I think that just sets my day. Like if I have that moment [of peace], I almost feel like I can always go back to it. When things get really hectic outside, I can go back to my center really quickly, I can plug in back to that feeling.”
The 43-year-old, who shares two kids with ex-husband and NFL star Tom Brady, added that she and her kids don’t keep their phones in their room at night, to avoid going to bed and waking up scrolling.
“The phone is an addiction thing. So if it’s not there, you’re not going to look,” the February 2024 Harper’s Bazaar cover girl explained. “[Instead] as soon as you get up you sit in your bed or you go sit in the floor in front of your bed or on a yoga mat, whatever you have, take a few deep breaths, connect yourself, do some stretches and sit there for 10 minutes. It changes everything.”
Austin, 30, who is the queen of creating and sharing easy, nutritious, delicious at-home recipes, added that it’s about what you “consume mentally in the morning,” similar to the way you think about having a healthy and hearty breakfast to set yourself up for success throughout the day.
