Man arrested after girl, 12, has phone stolen in mugging in Derby

Police have arrested a man after a 12-year-old girl had her phone stolen outside a shop in Derby.

The victim was walking along a path from some shops, having run an errand for her mother, when she was attacked by a man outside.

CCTV images showed the pair struggling, with the girl trying to fight back against the perpetrator.

The attack took place in Cambridge Street at about 4.40pm on Sunday.

A 22-year-old man from Derby was detained on Tuesday on suspicion of robbery, Derbyshire Constabulary said.

"We are still keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information they think may help with the investigation," the force said.

The attacker is described as white or tanned and about 5ft 6ins tall.

He spoke with a European accent, and has a slim build.

His hair is described as black, shaved at the sides, and longer on top.
