Giovanni Pernice 'supported' by Anton Du Beke amid Strictly 'abuse' claims

Giovanni Pernice isn't letting the recent controversy surrounding his training habits dampen his spirits as he continues to promote his upcoming show with fellow Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke.

Despite facing allegations of 'abusive behaviour' from former celebrity dance partners including Amanda Abbington, Giovanni took to Instagram to share a video with Anton, promoting their joint summer tour. The pair are set to star in a new stage show titled Anton and Giovanni Together: The Live Tour.

They shared a heartwarming message for fans on Instagram, captioning the post: "TOGETHER Again!!! NOT TO BE MISSED!! @mrantondubeke @giovannipernice."

In the video, Anton, 57, expressed his excitement about the first day of rehearsals, while Giovanni, 33, shared his joy about being back on tour. He said: "We are back on tour! It feels nice, it's lovely. We can't wait to see all of you!"

Anton added: "We open on the 14th of June and then we're out on the road until the end of July. Very, very exciting, It's going to be a great show, we've got the most amazing cast. Our dancers and singers are remarkable."

The pair ended the video with a hug, reinforcing the unity between them as Giovanni concluded: "The show is called Together, as you know. And whatever we do, we're going to get through it together."

Sherlock actress Amanda, who quit last year’s series early, claimed to have suffered mild PTSD from working with Giovanni on the show. She has since reportedly met up with Laura Whitmore and Ranvir Singh, both of whom also had rather negative experiences when paired with the professional dancer.

Giovanni has denied the claims and wrote in a statement on Instagram: "To my dear fans, You will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week. Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name."

He continued: "Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me.

"I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win - for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support!"
