In unexpected yet brilliant news, Gino D'Acampo has revealed he's got a role in the new Disney Pixar movie Luca, due to be released on streaming service Disney+ later this month. And we've all been gifted a sneak peak video of him in the studio recording the role!
Gino has taken on a cameo as the priest in the movie, which is set in his home country of Italy. Announcing the news on Instagram, Gino told fans and followers: "Ciao guys, I am super excited to announce my cameo role in the new Disney-Pixar film Luca. Meet Eugenio The Priest!"
The story is described by Disney as: "Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Luca is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides."
And it seems the premise hit a nostalgic note for Gino, who said: "It’s an honour to join the world of Disney, especially in a film that reminds me of my summers in Italy. Make sure to catch it on @disneyplusuk on June 18th… GDx"
Though, Luca is also a little sea monster... so we imagine Gino doesn't relate too much to that part!
In the video we see Gino get a first look at his character, spotting him on screen and exclaiming; "That's the priest!" followed jokily with;"I haven't got a nose like that!"
Gino admitted some nerves after rehearsal finished, before working with the director Enrico Casarosa but it looks like it all went well.
The TV chef admitted: "I have to say, it was more difficult than I thought. I think it's easier to cook for a wedding of 50 people than do five lines on a movie like this. But it was good!"
