Gillian Anderson is in "discussions" about reprising her role as the enigmatic (and silk blouse loving) DSI Stella Gibson for another series of BBC's award-winning crime drama The Fall.
The third and final series, which followed Anderson's Superintendent Stella on the hunt for Jamie Dornan's serial killer Paul Spector, aired back in 2016 - but fans and critics have been anticipating another outing ever since.
The Crown star and The Handmaid Tale's Elisabeth Moss were chatting about the series they'd love to revive for Variety, with Anderson revealing: "I think probably The Fall, and that's something we are in discussions about.
"Even when we ended those three seasons, we talked about the fact that one day — maybe in the same way that Prime Suspect came back. There were huge breaks between their seasons. Our writer-creator-director Allan Cubitt has been ready to dip back in and revisit it and her."
Moss was also keen to return to to her detective roots and reprise her role as Detective Robin Griffin for another series of Oscar winner Jane Campion's Top of the Lake. Mad Men's Peggy is off the cards though.
"Peggy — I like where we left her on Mad Men," the Emmy Award-winning star explained. "It was from 1960 to 1970, and I feel like I know what would happen to her. I think she became creative director of the agency, and worked the rest of her life, as she wanted to. But never say never, I guess.
"I think the one I would like to play is “Top of the Lake,” the thing I did with Jane Campion. We had always talked about it being three seasons. That’s one I think there’s actually definitely more story to tell."
Moss played Griffin in two series of the BBC drama, with Nicole Kidman joining the cast for the second season.
The Fall and Top of the Lake are available to stream on Netflix.
