This is the gift Meghan Markle will give the royal baby if it’s a girl

It's been confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex has gone into labour.

While the world waits for news of the arrival of the seventh in line to the thrown it's been revealed that Meghan already has a gift in mind if Baby Sussex is a girl.

In a 2015 interview with Hello magazine – a year before Meghan Markle met Prince Harry – she revealed the gift she would give her future daughter.

When asked if she owned any jewellery with a special meaning, Meghan replied: “I’ve always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch. When I found out Suits had been picked up for our third season – which, at the time, felt like such a milestone – I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version. I had it engraved on the back, ‘To M.M. From M.M.’ and I plan to give it to my daughter one day.”

The two-tone Cartier Tank Française watch retails for £4,800 and the former actress was spotted wearing it a number of times before she met Harry.

The Duchess celebrated the imminent arrival with a lavish baby shower in New York City – which included staying in The Mark’s $75,000-per-night penthouse – with guests arriving with a range of gifts ahead of the birth.

US television presenter and best friend of Oprah, Gayle King, was at the shower and told CBS: "[Meghan] didn't open any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she and Harry are back together."

Whether the royal baby is a girl or boy, it seems there will be no short supply of luxury gifts.
