Can’t decide whether to buy your beau a fancy, Belgian chocolate egg this Easter or sod it and go for a £1 Cadbury’s one?

Instead, spare a thought for whoever would buy this recently-created £5,000 Easter egg.

Luxury chocolatier Godiva’s new creative development chef, Cherish Finden, just made Godiva’s most expensive – and biggest – Easter egg to date.

It’s a huge 25kg dark chocolate egg (keep in mind a normal egg is probably around 300g), decorated with white chocolate and edible gold dust.

It also comes with five 420g artesian handcrafted eggs, and took Finden and her team more than 192 hours to complete.

Sure, perhaps you don’t have £5,000 lying around for what would probably be the greatest chocolate experience of your life, but if you just want to marvel at it, it’s currently on display at Godiva’s centre London boutique on Regent Street.

Finden told The Independent that its regal design was inspired by both Belgian and British royalty.

She said: “Godiva is famed for its intricate artistry, and I think that comes across from the level of detail included in the design, not just in the giant egg but also in the accompanying five artesian eggs – every detail of each has been handcrafted.

“We’ve been working through the night over the weekend and have even had tools sent over from the Godiva head office in Belgium, to ensure that it was nothing less than a masterpiece.”

Finden, the star of BBC TV show Bake Off Creme de la Crème, is pretty unbeatable when it comes to culinary skills.

Boasting more than 25 medals from international culinary competitions, if you want her to make you your very own egg, you might want to remortgage the house.
