When it comes to kitchen essentials, everyone needs a good-quality pan set. As you’re likely to use them on an everyday basis, we do feel that it's worth investing in cookware that will last for years to come. Scoring 80/100, this versatile set was named the GHI’s best set for hob-to-oven cooking; hardy enough for dishes that start on the hob and move to the oven, like oven-baked risotto or frittata. Now £249 down from £349, the set comprises three saucepans (14cm, 16cm and 18cm), a 24cm non-stick frying pan, a 20cm stockpot and a 24cm shallow casserole dish.
This stainless steel set is dishwasher safe but testers were happy to wash by hand as everything was so quick and easy to clean; the effective non-stick coating on the frying pan and milk pan rinsing off clinging food without a fuss. That means no more vigorous scrubbing at stubborn burnt-on food after dinner.
Saying that, some testers found that some food stuck to the bottom of the saucepans during cooking. That can be easily avoided with a little bit of extra cooking oil, though.
