The Ghd Air is an industry-acclaimed bit of beauty tech and often comes head-to-the-head with more expensive models.

The Good Housekeeping Institute tested the ghd Air back in 2017 alongside 100 other hair dryers.

Rated 82/100 by testers, this model stood out the most because of the smooth, glossy finish it gave to hair.

Also praised for its speed, mid-level noise levels (the brand makes no claims about how quiet the dryer is) and sleek, easy-to-use design, here’s what the GHI concluded:

'When presented to our testers, they were quick to remark how compact and lightweight the hairdryer felt. They also noticed that the controls were very easy to use and the heat settings quickly helped to dry hair. Some testers thought the dryer was a bit too hot and burned their scalps at the highest setting, but thought the concentrator nozzles did a good job directing the air flow. From the lab test, it was determined that the air temperature of the dryer was between 75-104C, while the outside surface of the barrel remained a safe temperature to handle after a blowout. Overall testers were pleased that the dryer was comfortable to hold, not too noisy, and made their hair look smoother.'
