Gemma Chan likes to experiment with "unexpected" red carpet looks even if they are "tricky" to wear.

The Crazy Rich Asians actress pulls out all of the stops when she steps out for events, often opting for dramatic gowns - such as the stunning black and pale green Prabal Gurung ensemble she sported at the 2021 Met Gala.

Reflecting on her fashion choices in an interview for the September 2022 issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, Gemma noted that she is also a big fan of Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière's creations.

"I love that he's really bold in his designs," she praised. "To me, they are always unexpected. Sometimes you think, 'Oh gosh, the proportions or the shapes might be tricky to wear,' but they always make you feel strong and powerful."

And while Gemma always appears at ease when posing for photographers, she insists she is anything but comfortable.

"It's still nerve-racking. You still have to sort of fake it a bit and just get through it," the 39-year-old shared. "You know what? It is fun to get dressed up. But I'm also really happy and comfortable not doing that, and wearing sweatpants."
