Gemma Atkinson has shared her surprise at experiencing nausea like "after a night out" during her second pregnancy.

The TV star, 38, revealed the unpleasant symptom – which she didn't have while carrying her first child – took until 10 to 12 weeks to settle.

Appearing on Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch, the mother-of-one was congratulated by host Steph McGovern on the happy news that she was expecting a baby son with fiancé Gorka Marquez.

Discussing how she was feeling, she said: "I'm alright now. I had a bit of a wobble at the start. Just with the sickness, which with Mia I had none.

"It's like motion sickness isn't it? It's like you're in a car or you've had a big night out. You just feel rotten, but it's settled down now."

Atkinson continued: "I mean it wasn't severe sickness, but it kind of baffled me how they call it morning sickness. Because you get it anytime, don't you?

"But that was one of the reasons where I thought, 'There's something not on here' because with Mia I had no symptoms other than a bit of a visible bump.

"But straight away within two to three weeks my boobs were getting sore, I felt a bit nauseous. I said to Gorka, 'I need to do a test'."

According to the NHS, morning sickness is very common early on in pregnancy and – despite its name – can affect you at any time of day.

Atkinson added that she was "so excited" to be expanding her family, after the arrival of daughter Mia, now three, in 2019.

Posting a clip of the interview to Instagram, liked more than 21,000 times, her fans were quick to praise her "down to earth" and "relatable" approach to motherhood.
