Gavin & Stacey's Joanna Page has announced her 'surprise' pregnancy on Instagram.

The actress shared a photo of herself in a white maxi dress covering a visible baby bump and added the caption: 'Well, this is a surprise!! Baby number 4 on the way! It's going to be a busy Christmas!'

Joanna and actor husband James Thornton are parents to one daughter, seven-year-old Eva, and two sons, five-year-old Kit and four-year-old Noah.

Friends and fans inundated the star with congratulatory messages and warm wishes, with Denise Van Outen commenting: 'Aw, congratulations.'

Actress Amanda Abbington added: 'Congratulations beautiful one!'

The 44-year-old star is expecting her fourth child in December. She has been married to James since 2003. Joanna reprised her role as Stacey in the beloved BBC comedy for a Christmas special in 2019.

Actor and co-writer James Corden recently hinted that a new episode of the series could be back soon.

James – who plays Smithy – admitted that the cliffhanger between Smithy and Nessa (co-writer Ruth Jones) from the special was so open-ended that 'it would be a shame to leave it there'.

'As it stands right now, there aren’t any plans to do one, but that’s not to say that there isn’t the want or the inclination to do one,' he said on Zoe Ball's BBC Radio 2 show. 'That special [is] so open-ended that I think it would be a shame to leave it there. That’s certainly my feeling and I think Ruth feels the same. It doesn’t feel like the end of a book, it feels like the end of a chapter, so I do feel like if we ever did another one that would be the end of it.'

We'd definitely love one more!
