Game of Thrones viewers spot baffling plot hole in latest episode
You could easily be forgiven for getting so swept up in the pulse-pounding drama of the latest Game of Thrones episode that this small, yet vexing, detail passed you by.
By the way, if you’ve not seen the latest episode, Beyond the Wall, the spoilers are about to come thick and fast. You’ve been warned…
Episode six gave us battles with White Walker bears, Jon Snow’s hardy band getting surrounded by the Army of the Dead on an icy lake, them then needing to raven in a Targaryen dragon evacuation team, Jon Snow almost dying (again) and one of Daenerys’s scaly 'children', Viserion, being slain and brought back by the Night King as a White Walker dragon.
Yes, a White Walker dragon. That is something of a game-changer when it comes to Westeros power dynamics.
Yet amongst this blizzard of action some viewers clocked one small plot hole that has left them perplexed: The Night King’s chains.
Daenerys should have been the breaker of these chains. #GameofThronespic.twitter.com/rBYcednXxz

Now the lands north of the wall aren’t the most economically vibrant. And for all its military prowess the Army of Dead is hardly the most well-equipped fighting force.
Which left some fans at a loss as to where the Night King managed to get his hands on the gigantic industrial chains used to drag Viserion’s corps up from its icy lake grave.
So apparently there's an Ace Hardware beyond the wall? Those were some heave duty chains to retrieve a load like that #GameOfThrones

#gameofthrones okay but how did they even get the chains around viserion to drag him out of the water pic.twitter.com/IbA0AxqSU5

Now where in the snow hell did these fools get industrialized size chains?? #GameofThronespic.twitter.com/zhEu5ngwc8

Where did they get these chains from? He really got the AUDACITY to raise this dragon from the dead? I am UPSET #GameOfThronespic.twitter.com/5WOdvjP3Q3

The mystery gets deeper when you remember that the Army of the Dead can't actually swim.
#GameOfThrones So the White walkers couldn't cross 10 feet of water but can swim to the bottom and put some huge chains on a dragon?

Other fans were quick to point out that giant chain procurement is not the most impressive feat considering the Night King's unique repertoire of skills.
Magical ice man raises army of zombies and can enslave the dead with a touch.
Everyone: "Where they get them chains tho??" #GameOfThrones— Dust Buursma (@DustyBuurd) August 21, 2017
Whereas some proffered theories for what these chains might have been doing before making their debut seven seasons in.
At least I know why the army of the dead is moving so slow now, carrying those chains for 7 seasons. #gameofthrones

One viewer even offered up a plausible theory as to where they could have come from.
