Game of Thrones animated series in the works

(HBO)An animated Game of Thrones series is in early development at HBO Max, it has been reported.
The Hollywood Reporter said there are no further details about what the focus of the potential series would be. No actors, writers or directors are currently attached to the project.
WarnerMedia has been working to expand the Game of Thrones universe since the original HBO series ended in 2019.
Variety reported last week that a series based on George RR Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg was in the works at HBO.
The studio is currently preparing its Game of Thrones live-action prequel series, House of the Dragon, which will follow the build-up to the Targaryen civil war in Westeros, known as the Dance of Dragons.
However, any plot details for the series, which is being created by Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, are being kept under wraps.
Speaking to YouTube’s Beyond The Trailer last year, Condal said it was essential to him that he and the team working on the show get it right.
“There’s obviously tons of stuff that I could say, I feel like all of it would get me shot or fired,” he said.
“I will say this. I realise the shoulders that I’m standing on here in making this show. I realise the footsteps that I’m walking in – they’re very deep, they’re very intimidating, but I come to the show as not only a huge fan of the original series, but also a fan of the books.”
The series is expected to debut in 2022.
