If there’s one thing we know vegans miss, it’s chocolate. So, back in November, the news that Galaxy was launching vegan chocolate was welcomed with open arms.
At the time, Mars, which makes Galaxy, launched not one. Not two. But THREE dairy-free flavours for its vegan fans: caramelised hazelnut, caramel & sea salt and smooth orange.
And now there have been two more flavours added. Drum roll please...
Crumbled cookie and smooth mint!
The crumbled cookie flavour combines rich cocoa and cookie pieces blended with creamy hazelnut paste.
While the minty one is a combination of rich cocoa and peppermint oil blended with smooth and creamy almond paste.
The bars have all been certified by the Vegan Society, and are be available in Asda from 21 September. They cost £3 for a 100g bar.
As well as the bars being animal-friendly, the packaging is also eco-friendly as its made from a compostable film packaging and wood fibre that can be composted at home. This is a first for Mars in its UK product range.
Speaking about the launch last year, Kerry Cavanaugh, marketing director at Mars Wrigley UK, said: “We’re so excited to be bringing these delicious treats to Galaxy’s range using a vegan recipe that doesn’t compromise on the brand’s signature smooth and creamy characteristics.
“Wherever you look you can’t avoid the vegan buzz in the UK. Even though vegan treats are currently only worth £10 million in a £4 billion chocolate market, we think that by introducing Galaxy, one of the UK’s best-known brands, there is a huge opportunity for the category to grow.”
Abigail Stevens, the trademark marketing manager at the Vegan Society, added: “We’re proud to register Galaxy’s first ever non-dairy milk chocolate bars with our vegan trademark. The brand has demonstrated that dairy is not necessary to make great tasting chocolate, and that people can still enjoy their favourites without the use of animals.”
