Gail Porter has claimed she was turned down for Celebrity First Dates.

The 50-year-old, who suffers from alopecia, is keen to find love again, and as a fan of the Channel 4 dating show, she hoped to sign up for the programme, but she has claimed she wasn't picked to be on the celebrity line-up, with her hinting that it was due to her appearance.

"I love First Dates. Me and my daughter are addicted. But they didn't choose me. I don't think I was right. When they ask a bloke about their ideal woman, they probably don't say bald or short," Gail told The Sun. "I'm cracking on a bit. I'm not the most beautiful person you've ever seen. But then I always think I'm not good enough."

The presenter was previously married to Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave between 2001 and 2006 and the couple shares 18-year-old daughter Honey.

Despite the setback, Gail is determined to find a companion but joked that she talks too much and could annoy any potential suitors.

"I could not think of anything nicer than having a hug every single night. But I can understand that no one would want to hang out with me because I talk a lot, I watch telly all through the night and when I wake up, I put movies on," she shared.

Gail has also tried using dating apps, such as Tinder, and said she's been put on a waiting list to join the celebrity app Raya.

"I've heard of Tinder because it's been on the Crime channel," she quipped. "I'm sure 99 per cent of people who are on these apps are completely fine, but I know I'm going to meet someone in that other one per cent. It's just my luck."
