Gabrielle Union showed her epically toned arms in a photo of her fully nude in a pool yesterday, and we can't quite get over it.
In the snap from Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa in Santa Fe, California, the 49-year-old actress makes use of the warm weather by cooling off ~ au naturel ~, giving followers a peek at her strong and stunning physique.
The actress makes staying fit look easy, and this quick pick highlights her authentic form. However, Gabrielle is very honest and open about the continual hard work that maintaining her body requires. She credits full-body compound exercises in the forms of Pilates, strength training, and cardio to her toned shape.
She captioned a recent Instagram: 'I used to clown couples that worked out together but now I’m that sucka that looks forward to our 6am sweat sessions. When I wanna give up, I just look to my side and get that push and smile from @dwyanewade and I thug it out. It’s our own private time before the house wakes up to love on each other and love on ourselves. Just a suggestion.'
Despite not being a morning person, her schedule only allows her time to work out early in her day.
That’s where her love of Pilates comes in: 'The great thing about Pilates is that I can take out my annoyance from waking up early on the machines instead of human beings. It's for the greater good,' she told Women’s Health US. 'My body responds to it, and I'm also more clear,' she said.
Gabrielle also feels strongly about arm exercises because of their quick results.
'I love my arms because it's where I get fast results. At my age, if I don't work out for two weeks, it's like I've never done anything, ever. But my arms come back quickly. I try to maintain my moneymakers,' she told Women’s Health in 2017.
Cardio can be a little more daunting for Gabrielle. So, she likes to mix up her cardio exercises to prevent an anxious stare-down with the treadmill.
'Cardio could be jumping jacks, running up my driveway, side shuffles like I used to do in basketball, an elliptical, treadmill, or sled pushes,' she explained.
The biggest motivator for Gabrielle’s holistic fitness routine is her desire to live a long, healthy life.
'I have a family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, and I know that can lead to an early death. I want to be a vital and energetic part of my family for a long time,' she told Women’s Health. 'I work out not because I get off on it, but because I want to live!'
Along with her workout routine to keep her healthy, Gabrielle’s ability to say no is just as essential.
'My best anti-aging tip is the ability to say no, no, and hell, no,' she told Women's Health. 'We run ourselves ragged saying yes to every freaking thing, whether it's to our family, spouses, or careers.'
The actress also prioritises recovery.
Her other anti-aging tips include drinking a lot of water and eating an almost vegan diet. However, Gabrielle makes sure to note that she doesn’t deprive herself.
'If I want cupcakes, cookies, or a short stack, I don't deny myself, and I certainly don't deny myself bacon,' she said in a Marie Claire Australia interview.
Treat yourself, Gabrielle! You deserve it!
