Furious Phillip Schofield 'quits TV' in huge rant as he warns he could 'throw so many people under the bus'

The second episode of Cast Away, in which Phillip Schofield filmed himself stranded on a deserted island near Madagascar for 10 days, contains more scenes of the former TV presenter talking about his career and how it came to an abrupt end last year, and hints that he will “bow out” and not return to TV in the future. The episode on Tuesday 1 October features Phillip becoming emotional after catching his first fish, and then getting angry when he talked about the people who he believes were instrumental in ending his career at This Morning.

Without naming names, Phillip mentions being “thrown under the bus” by some of his co-workers - that indeed, he could 'throw so many people under the bus', and being let go by his management. He also mentions “three s**ts,” who he believes didn’t support him when he left the morning chat show following rumours of a feud between him and co-presenter Holly Willoughby, and revelations that he had been hiding an affair with a younger male staff member on This Morning for several years.

As he sits around a fire and adds extra wood to keep it going because he “has more to say,” Phillip then declares “I don’t want to do it anymore. I’ll be slammed for this - ‘ Phillip Schofield, mad rant!’ – but the thing is, I don’t care anymore!”

He then talks about why he has done Cast Away and seems to reveal it could be his last TV appearance. “This is me having my say as I bow out and the thing is when you do a programme like this and you do it just for yourself, you have nothing to lose,” he says.

“They’ve taken pretty much everything from me, reputation, dignity, legacy, everything – anyway, I’m not bleating, I’m just getting it off my chest. The reason I am doing that is because I am loving this challenge, I am loving what I am finding out about myself, and loving every day. When I get on that boat and leave here I will know that I did my best and I’ve said my piece, and anyone who is bitter about that, honestly you can f**k off because I don’t give a s**t – I quit!”

Phillip’s dramatic statement drew some comments on social media as the episode aired, with many criticising the presenter for his statements. One wrote: “He claims he no longer wants to be on TV, so why are you on TV Phillip?” while another commented: “‘I don’t want to be on telly anymore’ says the man who will never be invited on telly anymore.”

However, some fans were supportive, with one saying: “I understand and appreciate your struggle. Live your best life because it is your life,” and another adding: “This is really quite sad.”
