The RHS Virtual Chelsea Flower Show 2021 launches today - everything you need to know

The RHS's Virtual Chelsea Flower Show is back for 2021 after a successful run last year. The event was launched as an alternative to the in-person Chelsea Flower Show due to restrictions around the pandemic.

This year, fans are treated to both, with the main event returning in September as well as the Virtual Chelsea running from Monday 17 May.

The first day of RHS Virtual Chelsea Flower Show will only be available to members and then the full programme of events will be open to the public from Tuesday 18 May to Friday 21 May.

Digital content from the event will be added online and will be available for visitors to enjoy at their leisure at any point during the event week.

Here is the full schedule of everything you can expect from Virtual Chelsea 2021.

When is the Virtual Chelsea Shower Show 2021?

The RHS Virtual Chelsea Flower Show takes place in May, beginning from Monday 17 for RHS members and from Tuesday 18 May for non-members, until 21 May.

2021 is the second online version of the traditional Chelsea Flower Show, which will return in person this Autumn after being cancelled due to the pandemic last year.

RHS Members will get a first look at Virtual Chelsea with access to a line-up of videos and articles before the general public.

The event will feature some of the biggest faces in gardening and the week opens with a conversations between Alan Titchmarsh and RHS President, Sir Nicholas Bacon.

This year, the event is highlighting the Queen's Green Canopy initiative, a new campaign encouraging the nation to plant trees in honour of the Her Majesty's upcoming Platinum Jubilee next year.

As usual, the RHS event will be packed full of informative and engaging talks and showcases.

There will be plenty of practical advise, including from Peter Beales Roses who share tips on growing roses during a tour of their nursery.

Award-winning garden designers including Robert Myers, Sarah Eberle, Tom Massey and Charlotte Harris will be discussing their preparations ahead of the September Chelsea Flower Show and sharing their plans. W.S Warmenhoven will also be explaining how you can care for alliums this Spring.

In 2018 the Highgate Mental Health Centre of the Camden and Islington NHS Trust received the the RHS Feel Good Garden. During the Virtual Chelsea Garden Show, guests will be able to digitally revisit the garden to see how patients and staff have benefited since then.

Virtual Chelsea Flower Show 2021 special guests

Alan Titchmarsh opened the event in conversation with Sir Nicholas Bacon and there are plenty more famous faces to look forward to.

Jo Wiley will be showcasing her Northamptonshire garden, as will BBC's Daniela Relph and Sangita Myska.

Meanwhile, DJ Trevor Nelson will be chatting to award-winning gardener Matthew Wilson and BBC Gardeners’ World's Arit Anderson be talking all things sustainable with designer Marian Boswall.

Presenter Nicki Chapman and Celebrity Florist Simon Lycett will also be creating floral displays and discussing their own memories of previous RHS Chelseas shows.
