Halloween handprint crafts are fun for everyone. They involve getting messy which little ones always love, but they’ll also need your assistance, so it’s the perfect project to do together as a family. An adult is needed to cutting pieces of card with scissors – but little ones will love stamping paint all over them!
Everyone can get involved. Mixing up large adult’s handprints with smaller children’s handprints looks really effective and a great way for everyone to get into the spooky spirit. Be sure to any cutting out yourself and keep scissors away from children. Make sure to cover any surface before you start crafting, as it could get messy.

How to make Halloween handprint crafts
Here are three easy ways to make handprint cards, bunting and decorative pictures. All of these halloween handprints can be adapted for different craft projects, so if you prefer to have pumpkin bunting and bat cards, go for it!
How to make a ghoulish greetings card
You will need
A4 black card
Black acrylic or poster paint
Paintbrush
Glue
White paper
Coloured paper
Pencil
To make your card
Step 1
Paint one hand with white paint, ensuring you cover your whole palm and fingers.
Step 2
Take a sheet of black A4 card. Lay it down landscape and then press your hand on top on the left hand side. Leave it to dry.
Step 3
Fold the card in half and turn it around so the handprint is upside down.
Step 4
With a black marker pen, draw on eyes and a mouth. Then take a silver marker and draw spider webs in the top and bottom corners.
Step 5
Draw the letters ‘Boo’ on coloured paper, cut them out and stick them on. Finish by adding details on the letters with the black marker pen.

How to make a pumpkin picture
You will need
Orange and green acrylic or poster paints
Paintbrush
Coloured card
White paper
Ruler
Pencil
Scissors
To make your picture
Step 1
Paint just your palm with orange paint.
Step 2
Place your palm face down onto white paper to make a print. Start at the corner so you have space to add more hands. Invite family members to join in so they can all be part of the pumpkin patch.
Step 3
The green stalk and leaves are made with fingerprints. Dip a finger into green paint and add areas of green dots to create the full pumpkin shape. Leave to dry.
Step 4
Prepare the letters for the phrase ‘pumpkin patch’. You can either draw this on, use letter stamps if you have them, or print them off. Cut around them, mount them onto coloured paper and stick above your pumpkins.
Step 5
Trim around all the sides of the main design – use a pencil and ruler to help guide you. Stick your pumpkin onto coloured card. Frame your picture and hang it up.
How to make bat bunting
You will need
Black acrylic or poster paint
Paintbrush
White paper
Scissors
Glue
Pegs
To make your bunting
Step 1
Paint one hand with black paint ensuring the whole palm, fingers and thumb are covered.
To make your bunting
Step 2
Make your handprint on one half of a sheet of white paper as close to the edge as you can go. Repaint your hand and do a second print on the same paper, at the opposite end and leaving some space in the centre.
Step 3
Fill the centre by painting in a bat head and body. Don’t forget to add pointy ears. Leave to dry.
Step 4
Glue on googly eyes and draw on fangs with a silver marker pen.
Step 5
Cut around the bat shape and mount it onto a sheet of background card. Halloween colours like orange, purple and green look ghoulish!
Step 6
Repeat until you have several bats. To display them hang up your coloured ribbon and then attach the bats all along with pegs to create a fa-boo-lous final touch.
