Just like large swathes of the population, Frankie Bridge admits to failing to "stick" with New Year's resolutions for very long.

However, the pop star, 33, uses an alternative practice to achieve more while also being "kind" to herself.

Speaking to The Sun's Fabulous magazine, she explained how she was using an increasingly popular self-help method called 'manifesting'.

It involves focusing your thoughts on things you want to happen, which will in turn "attract" them to become a reality.

Bridge, who recently joined the panel of Loose Women after appearing on the latest series of I'm A Celebrity, was inspired by her friend Roxie Nafousi's book on the topic, Manifest: 7 Steps To Living Your Best Life.

The former The Saturday's singer said: "There are loads of things I want to do and not even necessarily career-wise. I’m always wanting to learn and grow. I’m quite hard on myself.

"I would like to learn a different way of talking to myself and how to be kind to myself. I’d like to have some kind of plan in my head. I don’t even know if I fully believe in it, but I want to see if it works for me."

She added that she found it more helpful than setting New Year's resolutions, of which she revealed: "I never stick to them and it puts a lot of pressure on me. I find January hard. Nothing really happens."

The mother-of-two – who has been married to footballer Wayne Bridge since 2014 – also opened up about how getting older "annoys" her.

She said that, while she knows she is still relatively young, she recalls as a child hearing people discuss being in their 30s and thinking, "God, you’re old."

The star reveals she is inspired by her friend, the presenter Lisa Snowden, 50, who still "seems so young".

Bridge first found fame in S Club Juniors at the age of 12 in 2001, before joining The Saturdays from 2007 to 2015.
