Former Mayor to host first fundraiser for charity
A Blackburn charity is to host a dinner to help raise funds for their projects in the UK, Sierra Leone, Pakistan and India.
Aid 4 Ummah will hold their first charity dinner on Friday October 7 at the Grand Venue.
The charity also works locally in Lancashire and assisted families through the Covid pandemic.
Most recently, it has aimed to help people through the cost of living crisis.
Former Blackburn with Darwen Mayor Salim Mulla said: “Aid 4 Ummah are a non-profit UK charity who have been an active, and registered charity since 2015.
“We provide humanitarian services to the neediest people in crisis and non-crisis situations in a variety of countries, including Pakistan, India, Sierra Leone, Jordan, and the United Kingdom.
“Most recently, Aid 4 Ummah were on the ground in Pakistan, responding swiftly to the disastrous flooding. Hundreds of ready hot meals were distributed to the victims of the floods, who had lost everything and were unable to even provide food for themselves and their families.
“As the situation unfolds, Aid 4 Ummah continue to remain on the ground providing aid through whatever means possible.
“One of the biggest ongoing projects being carried out by the charity is an Education Centre in Sierra Leone.
“The Aid 4 Ummah Education Centre will provide full time education to orphans in the Waterloo area of Sierra Leone.
"Classes for adults will also take place, teaching a variety of life skills which will empower the individuals to work towards being more independent and self-sufficient.”

Special guests on the night include internationally renowned Qiraat reciter, Sheikh Hajjaj Ramadan Al-Hindawi from Egypt and Sheikh Sulaimaan Ravat from South Africa.
The evening will end with an auction featuring a variety of signed sports memorabilia and corporate hospitality tickets.
Auction items include: Virgil Van Dijk signed and framed Liverpool kit; a Sadio Mane signed and framed Liverpool kit; a Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta signed framed Barcelona shirt; A Floyd Mayweather signed and framed montage of photographs; Blackburn Rovers corporate box tickets for one game (six tickets); Blackburn Rovers home shirt signed by 2022/23 squad and two tickets for Manchester United corporate box for one game.
