Former Emmerdale child star Dexter Ansell announces new job
Former Emmerdale child star Dexter Ansell has landed a role in the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
The 8-year-old actor, who played Lucas Taylor on the ITV soap until Noah Ryan Aspinall took over the role two years ago, has announced that he's been cast as a young Coriolanus Snow.
Taking to Instagram to announce the exciting news, Dexter shared a photo of himself alongside Donald Sutherland's tyrannical version of Snow from the original movies (which are set 64 years before the prequel), as well as a photo of the official Songbirds and Snakes poster.

"Thrilled to announce that I play young President Snow in the hotly anticipated Hunger Games prequel 'The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes," he captioned the post.
"In cinemas WORLDWIDE Nov 17th. A huge thank you to my wonderful agent for this golden opportunity."
Dexter's father, X Factor and G4 star Jonathan Ansell, also shared his excitement on Instagram, writing: "LOVE - THE HUNGER GAMES? Well… Little Dexter hits the big screen worldwide this November as 'young Coriolanus Snow' in the hotly anticipated Hunger Games prequel."

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes follows an 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (played by Tom Blyth), who is attempting to worm his way in the Capitol for the illustrious life he desires.
For the 10th annual Hunger Games, Snow serves as a mentor to District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird (West Side Story's Rachel Zegler), who gains Panem's attention after she defiantly sings during the reaping ceremony.
The Suicide Squad's Viola Davis, Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse actor Jason Schwartzman, and Euphoria's Hunter Schafer also star.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be released in cinemas on November 17, 2023. The previous Hunger Games movies are available to stream on Prime Video UK.
