Welcoming in the next few seasons might not pan out to be as pleasurable a pursuit as in previous years. Where once we delighted in furnishing our wardrobes a whole suite of new suits, shirts, shoes, dresses and bags - to befit the changing temperatures and emerging facets of our personalities - now we're seemingly locked in an endless cycle of reduced socialising, working from home and further calamity.

That being said, uncertainty hasn't prevented some of our favourite designers from working extremely hard to bring us the sorts of collections to pique our excitement for the year that's on the horizon, with Victoria Beckham among those at the vanguard.

For her SS21 collection - revealed today on a stream of models wafting through an otherwise empty Victoria Miro Gallery in London - she created 20 looks that both reference greatest hits from previous collections, while also giving us something fresh and fun to look forward to wearing.

And of the new designs bound to become a capsule staple, the 'puddle hem' trousers are a frontrunner. Something of a nod to her AW19 split hem trousers, this update takes cuff detailing to new, voluminous levels, with fabric pooling generously around the ankles.

You might wonder about practicality, but as Beckham herself points out, when you're stuck in a pandemic and every trip out of the front door feels like a chore, fashion is here to lift you up and out of the gloom:

'This collection is about freedom - to explore, to dress up, to be yourself. It is rooted in our true DNA, our language; strong tailoring, sharp colour, modernity,' she says.
