Forget Neutrals. Here Are 5 Red Furnishings That’ll Add a Bold Pop of Color to Your Home.
If this year’s design fairs showed us one thing, it’s that it’s time for the pastry pastels to step aside. Bold color is in, with the ultra-moody oxblood red leading the pack. Just look at where the shade turned up: At Milan Design Week, the wine-toned products at Gucci’s Design Ancora were both a touchstone to the house’s legacy and a look toward its new creative era, and Loro Piana’s exhibition dedicated to legendary Italian architect Cini Boeri was saturated in oxblood, from furniture upholstery to painted walls.

Shape, Moooi
Capturing the raw movement of Polish artist Nikodem Szpunar’s work, Moooi’s new Shape Rugs Carpet collection is a stroke of genius. Known for his large-scale paintings and, more recently, dabbling in design, Szpunar collaborated with Moooi to produce a series of abstract carpets shot through with the playfulness for which the Dutch brand is known. Play by the rules and
layer one (or two) on the floor or break with convention and hang on the wall for a cheeky
nod to the intersection between design and art. From $3,190
Assiale, B&B Italia
Designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni for B&B Italia, the Assiale table is a statement- making piece with functional flexibility. Available in fixed and extendable versions (simply slide the top to expand), the table is ideal for dining or, for those with executive-level style, as an office desk. Go extra bold with the Levanto red-marble option (only available in the fixed model) or opt for Glossy Clay—the deep wine tone is especially striking with the gleaming finish, which shows off the table’s subtly striated top. From $19,940
Storet, Acerbis
A highlight at Milan Design Week, Gucci’s Design Ancora presentation celebrated five icons of Italian design. Conceived by creative director Sabato De Sarno and held at the brand’s renovated Milan flagship store, the immersive installation featured five exemplary furniture and lighting pieces from the 20th century. Reimagined in Rosso Ancora, the house’s signature vampy red, the collection turned heads as fast as a fresh face on the runway. Of particular note is the monolithic Storet cabinet, penned in 1994 by industrial designer Nanda Vigo for Acerbis and reissued in 2020. $18,200
Flare, Articolo Studios
First shown at Milan Design Week 2024, the Flare collection is part of Articolo Studio’s debut furniture launch. (The Australian design studio has been offering lighting since 2012.) As its name suggests, there’s something a little extra about the Flare table. Although the silhouette is minimal, exacting details, including bronze ribs along the seams, elevate the table beyond a simple living-room sidekick to a sculptural showstopper available in a suite of colors and finishes. From $6,400
La Grande Muraglia, Neutra
Casting aside the materiality we normally associate with outdoor furniture—plastic, metal tubes, weather-proofed wood—Neutra is rethinking the way we lounge. A company with a 140-year legacy in processing marble and natural stone, the Italian brand recently introduced a fresh assemblage of alfresco seating designed by Mario Bellini. Including two sofa sizes, a chair, and a lounger, the La Grande Muraglia Outdoor collection is made from silver travertine sculpted with pillars, lintels, and geometric contours that make it feel monumental.
