Florence Pugh's grandmother was unfazed by her sheer Valentino gown

Florence Pugh's grandmother had no issues with her wearing a sheer dress to a fashion show.

The Little Women actress stepped out in a sheer fuchsia gown with a tulle neckline and flowing skirt to the Valentino couture event in Rome, Italy in July, but was later hit with a wave of comments online in relation to her decision not to cover her nipples.

Florence called out some of the people who made "vulgar" statements about her figure, and in an interview for the September 2022 issue of Harper's Bazaar, she insisted that her family were unfazed by all of the buzz about the look online.

"I went to see my gran, and she goes, 'So what's all of this business about your nipples then?'" she recalled, before explaining how she showed her grandmother photos of her in the dress. "She gasped. Because the dress was so beautiful."

In a post on Instagram following the event, Florence revealed that she has made it her mission to reject any person who expects her to "morph into an opinion of what's hot or sexually attractive" and urged online trolls to "grow up" and "respect people".

Reflecting on the reaction further, Florence maintained that she was entirely comfortable in the gown but still finds the response to be "alarming".

"I was comfortable with my small breasts. And showing them like that - it aggravated (people) that I was comfortable. It was just alarming, how perturbed they were. They were so angry that I was confident," she said.
