Florence Pugh wore a completely see-through dress, and we're speechless

Florence Pugh had an empowering #freethenipple moment at the Valentino haute couture show last Friday, and she has a message for the haters: She’s not interested in the negative commentary, or what you think about her body.

The 26-year-old actress attended the show working a bright pink, semi-sheer, tulle Valentino dress. Her hair was slicked back, and she was all kinds of fit, toned, and totally amazing in it. Naturally, people had thoughts about the fact that her nipples were visible through the gauzy fabric, and Florence said she anticipated that.

'Listen, I knew when I wore that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way there wouldn’t be a commentary on it. Whether it be negative or positive, we all knew what we were doing. I was excited to wear it, not a wink of me was nervous. I wasn’t before, during or even now after,' she captioned several Instagram shots of herself in the dress.

'What’s been interesting to watch and witness is just how easy it is for men to totally destroy a woman’s body, publicly, proudly, for everyone to see. You even do it with your job titles and work emails in your bio..?'

Florence acknowledged that some people were not so kind about her body, including the zeroing in on the size of her breasts. 'I’ve lived in my body for a long time. I’m fully aware of my breast size and am not scared of it. What’s more concerning is…. Why are you so scared of breasts? Small? Large? Left? Right? Only one? Maybe none? What. Is. So. Terrifying.'

Florence said she’s 'very grateful' that she grew up surrounded by 'very strong, powerful, curvy women. We were raised to find power in the creases of our body. To be loud about being comfortable. It has always been my mission in this industry to say ‘fuck it and fuck that’ whenever anyone expects my body to morph into an opinion of what’s hot or sexually attractive. I wore that dress because I know.'

People were all about her body positive moment in the comments. 'Adore you 💗,' said Nicola Coughlan. 'You're a magical fucking queen and we do not deserve you,' wrote Jameela Jamil. Joey King chimed in with this: 'You are truly so amazing. You put into words what so many feel but can’t articulate.'

Florence said in a follow-up Instagram post that she was 'feeling magical' in the dress. She certainly was showing off how all-over-toned she is.

And she’s worked hard to get so strong. When training for her role as Yelena Belova in Black Widow, she did kickboxing for two hours straight with her trainer, Florence said on Sue Perkins' podcast.

She’s also talked about committing to an active lifestyle. 'Go biking, go swimming, go to the beach, go to the woods, eat that Gyros with extra tsatziki, climb a mountain, watch Bojack Horseman, have a long bath, cook a Sunday Roast, make some toast at 10pm..DO IT,' Florence wrote alongside a photo of herself in the woods in 2020.

Oh, and she’s into swimming (check out that impressive diving form!)

And working out outdoors:

Florence ended the caption of her Instagram post about her Valentino dress with this message that summed up *all* her feelings about the negative comments: 'Fuckingfreethefuckingnipple.'

Everyone is cheering you on, Florence!
