A flood alert has been issued for the Eastern Yar, alongside weather warnings for strong winds already in force for the Isle of Wight.

The Environment Agency (EA) has said tributaries from Whitwell to Bembridge are also likely to flood.

It follows a night of heavy rain. In the past 24 hours, 10.4mm of rain fell at Knighton.

Flooding is possible on Sandown Road, as river levels rise.

The EA said: "Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
