Flamur Beqiri: Three arrested in Sweden on suspicion of murdering man on his doorstep in London on Christmas Eve

Three men have been arrested in Sweden on suspicion of murdering a man on his doorstep in southwest London last year, police have said.

Flamur Beqiri, a Swedish national who had a wife and young child, was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot in Battersea Church Road around 9pm on Christmas Eve.

The 36-year-old was the brother of former Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Misse Beqiri.

Mr Beqiri and his family had just returned to their home in Battersea when the lone attacker struck.

He had been living in London for four or five years at the time he was shot, and married his wife, Debora Krasniqi, in Italy in October 2018.

The three Swedish nationals being held - aged 22, 31 and 33 - were detained on Thursday at addresses in Stockholm and Vaxjo under a UK European Arrest Warrant, the Metropolitan Police said.

All three will now face extradition proceedings through the Swedish judicial system.

Swedish kickboxer Anis Fouad Hemissi, 23, was previously charged with Mr Beqiri's murder and was extradited to the UK from Denmark in June.

It is claimed he flew to the UK four days before the murder, with the intention of "executing" Mr Beqiri in an organised hit before travelling to Copenhagen.

Appearing at the Old Bailey via video link for a plea hearing in August, he denied charges of murder and possessing a prohibited firearm described as a self-loading pistol.

He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on 1 December.
