Five children found dead in Germany, after grandmother ‘tells police mother killed them’

Five children have been found dead at a home in the west German city of Solingen, according to police.

In a call to police, their grandmother said their 27-year-old mother had killed them, according to Bild, a German newspaper.

Officers found the dead children, who were aged one, two, three, six and eight years old.

The mother jumped in front of a train in Dusseldorf near Solingen in the early afternoon and survived with serious injuries, according to Bild newspaper.

The newspaper reported the grandmother also told police her daughter was out of her home with a child, after claiming the 27-year-old had killed five of her other children.

According to Bild, an 11-year-old child was found safe at the grandmother’s house.

Emergency services were called to an apartment block in the Hasseldelle area of Solingen on Thursday.

The five bodies were discovered in an apartment in the city, which sits near Cologne.

Police announced the discovery on Thursday.
