Ikea has launched the playful FREKVENS collection featuring a range of party-inspired pieces starting from just £4.

The limited edition 26-piece collection, aimed at those with a passion for music and house parties, has been developed alongside Stockholm-based creative design group, Teenage Engineering.

With a retro aesthetic, the music-based range celebrates sound, light and friendships in the home. You'll find modular speakers (from £65), spotlights (£15), a silver raincoat (£119), stylish stackable mugs (£7.50) and a silver cushion cover (£4); everything needed to create a spontaneous party atmosphere at home or on the go.

Good quality sound is right at the heart of the range. In fact, the three speakers were previously awarded a prestigious Red Dot Award in 2018 during product development.

'We love to collaborate with experts from different industries to ensure that we can create unique, great quality cutting-edge designs,' says Carol McSeveney, Sales Leader for Lighting and Electronics at Ikea UK and Ireland.

'From our home visits we know that music is an integral part of the home and unites people in a powerful way. Apart from looking amazing, it sounds great too – so it’s definitely the perfect reason to throw a party.'

Jasper Kouthoofd, Head of Design and Founder of Teenage Engineering, explains: 'FREKVENS introduces sound into the home in a new way. It is very simple, fun and playful — bringing a retro and unique aesthetic to Ikea that has never been done before. The range can help anyone become a home roadie, setting up your own sound system and light show with minimal effort.'

The limited-edition range will be available to purchase in stores and online at the beginning of February.
