Gillian Anderson is taking on the role of Margaret Thatcher in the highly-anticipated fourth series of The Crown.
Now, we’ve had our first glimpses of Anderson in action. The actress makes a couple of fleeting appearances in the first teaser trailer for the new season - a close up of the lower half of her face as she emerges from a doorway, and a shot of that instantly recognisable hairstyle from behind.
She was also seen on set filming for the much-loved Netflix series back in February.
The actress looked the spitting image of Thatcher, wearing a padded shouldered grey blazer, of-the-time pearls and the former Prime Minister's signature bouffant hair.
It was announced that Anderson would take on the role of Thatcher in September last year, confirming months of speculation.
'I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman,' Anderson said at the time.
'Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.'

During an interview with The Guardian, Anderson revealed that she was preparing for the role by reading and watching everything she could find on the late Prime Minister.
'To a certain degree, it’s very helpful for an actor, at least in my experience, to slightly fall in love with the character you’re playing, regardless of what your opinion might be of them, if it’s a historical character, particularly,' she explained. 'So I have.'
Series four of The Crown tells the story of Thatcher’s reign as Prime Minister (from 1979 to 1990) and what her relationship was like with the royal family.
It will also feature the relationship and marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, with Emma Corrin making her debut as the late Princess Diana, and the births of Princes William and Harry.
It was recently confirmed that The Night Manager actress Elizabeth Debicki would be taking on the role of Diana for the final two seasons of the drama. Imelda Staunton will be succeeding Olivia Colman as the Queen; Lesley Manville will play Princess Margaret; and Game of Thrones actor Jonathan Pryce will take over as Prince Philip.
Season four of The Crown will debut on Netflix on 15 November.
