If there's one thing the BBC knows how to do well, it's drama. So their three-part series all about the poisonings of Sergei Skripal, a former Russian agent, and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury in 2018 is definitely one to clear the diary for.
Here's everything we know about the series so far.
What's the story?
The drama, named The Salisbury Poisonings, will tell the story of Sergei, a former Russian military officer and double agent for the UK's intelligence services, and his daughter Yulia who were poisoned with a novichok nerve agent in Salisbury town centre back in 2018. Yulia and Sergei were found slipping in and out of consciousness on a park bench with an eyewitness saying that Yulia's eyes were open and she was "foaming at the mouth". Several people who had come into contact with the scene became ill, including two people who handled a perfume bottle that was believed to be the way the nerve agent was disposed of, with one woman dying. Both Sergei and Yulia lived through the attack but it sparked a number of dramatic events, including the UK accusing Russia of attempted murder and expelling Russian diplomats, before Russia came back and accused the UK of being responsible for the poisonings.
Do we have a trailer?
We do and it looks explosive. You can watch the trailer above.
Who’s going to be in The Salisbury Poisonings?
It's like a who's who of British tv stars, quite frankly. Shameless's Anne-Marie Duff takes a lead role, alongside The Full Monty's Mark Addy, plus Rafe Spall from The Big Short, and Myana Buring from Downton Abbey.
When’s the release date for The Salisbury Poisonings?
The Salisbury Poisonings will air on BBC 1 at 9pm across three nights beginning June 14th.
