Festival guide 2017: The best wellness weekends the UK has to offer

Is it just us that’s completely over the straight-forward music festival? These days we want so much more than just a singer – or band – doing their thing on stage. We want great food options, we want a bit of literature and performance art, we want raves in hidden valleys, we want hot tubs and craft tents. Most of all? We want a good night’s kip. And yes, we promise you, that is possible.

Enter the likes of Wilderness, Festival No. 6 and Port Elliot. Whether you want to call them wellness, boutique or lifestyle festivals, these types of events are fast becoming the most sought-after festivals.

At Wilderness, you can start the day with a swim in the lake, make your very own silver ring, go for a massage in the Neal’s Yard tent, dine at The Pig’s pop-up kitchen and then rock out to Grace Jones.

At Festival No. 6, you can take in the Italian-inspired Welsh village that is Portmeirion, take a swing dancing lesson, listen to a talk by Irvine Welsh and sing along to Rag ‘N’ Bone man.

Down in Cornwall at Port Elliot festival, you can do a spot of mediation, take in an exhibition, go and watch some stand up and party the night away.

Seriously, why bother with the likes of V Festival and Glastonbury when these glorious weekend escapes are on offer?
